Welcome to this July Newsletter and I hope all our members who have temporarily located to warmer climates are enjoying the move.
VHF Course
My thanks to Peter Anglin who has managed to arrange a VHF Radio Course to be held at the Newhaven Yacht Club on Sunday 1st September from 9.30 am to 1.30 pm. I can assure you it was no easy task. All members would already have received the invitation to attend the course. A reminder that since the law was introduced recently that it is now an offence to operate a Marine VHF Radio without somebody on the vessel holding a Marine Radio Licence, I encourage all members to comply with the law.
The committee has confirmed that any current member of the Newhaven Yacht Squadron will receive a 20% reduction to the cost of the course so register now before all places are taken up. Just send an email to Chloe by return email to secure your position.
Subscriptions due
It appears that there has been a technical issue in relation to the emailing out of yearly subscription invoices. If you have not yet received your invoice for 2024-2025 membership year, please contact Chloe by email and the matter will be sorted quickly.
Marina refurbishment
Vice Commodore Bob Sterling has been working overtime with the help of other members of the Marina Subcommittee refurbishment program. Visits to other Marinas to see firsthand how they have conducted their own refurbishment works, meetings with professional staff of relevant companies and an enormous amount of research and investigations into best practices and relevant marina codes. It is anticipated that by the AGM later this year a comprehensive presentation will be available so that all members will be kept up to date with major developments in the planning stages.
Volunteers
Thank you to all our volunteers who often put in without being asked and without their support we would not be able to keep our fees by far the lowest in the country.
